Good Morning today we are with a customer at Gibbet Hill in Coventry , We are here to upgrade the customers Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop computer from 1 to 2 GB of RAM, Doing this has turned this machine from an extremely slow machine in to a fairly quick one.
For the next job today we are at Riddings Hill at Ballsall Common in Warwickshire to maintain a Laptop computer for a customer. The main thing we are here for is to check the Antivirus on the PC and the computer is reported to be running slow.
Update: The main thing effecting the speed of this Dell Studio laptop was the webcontrol software supplied was hogging resources so we removed this and other programs by editing the registry.
Good Morning today we are with a customer at Gibbet Hill in Coventry , We are here because the customers computer is running slow, The computer it’s self seems to be running correctly so we have removed unneeded programs from the start up on the laptop computer and edited the registry the machine is faster but still quiet slow it has been determined that the Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop computer that has been supplied with Vista and only 1Gb of RAM is under the required specification, To make it run smoothly in fact all vista machines should have a minimum of 2 Gb of Ram, This has been recommended and the customer has ordered.

Update the issue here was with the Network driver so to repair it we had to remove the Intel Wireless adaptor reset winsock and the tcpip stack then rebooot and reinstall the drivers.

Update: The Laptop computer had corrupt files, but we were able to perform a recovery and have recovered all of customers important files in case of any further issues.

This Morning we are with a customer in Kenilworth, The customers Computer is not starting correctly and failing to boot up.
What had happened here was the processor had got to hot and started to shut down, which meant it had got so slow the computer had failed to shut down correctly before the power had gone when the customer attempted to power down, so we cleaned up the Heat sink on the processor and ran a repair on the hard drive and left the machine in a working state backing up the data in case any further issues arise.
Good morning today we are with a customer at The Meadows in Leek Wootton near Warwick, We are here to change the customer over to Sky Broadband and have installed the supplied router, We have also updated the customers firewall and antivirus software and removed a shortcut for some thing called Platte Account as well as a few Trojan viruses.
We are with a customer at Southam in Warwickshire to replace their BT wireless ADSL modem router, the objective is to make a number of computers in the house function with the wireless router.
Good morning today we are at a customers in Mollington Grove at Hatton Park, We are here to rescue a laptop computer with Windows XP installed that is not booting, the issue is to far gone to be able to repair it normally and quickly we revert to backing up and reinstalling windows over the top in doing this we managed to recover the customers data and got the machine operating normally again.
Good evening we are at a customers by Brookhurst School in Leamington Spa, We are here to removal a fake antivirus called XP Antivirus and a couple of Trojan Virus from the customers machine, after removing the Trojan Virus we updated to the antivirus to AVG 8.5 and finished by leaving Spybot scanning the computer to make sure that the machine is clear of any malware.
This afternoon we are at a customers on the Stratford Road in Lighthorne Heath near Gaydon test track, We are here to setup a desktop computer with a Sky broadband router for this one we provided a Wireless USB adapter to allow the use of the computer upstairs and the router to remain downstairs.
Update we had a few issues with the lenght of line at this address but managed to get it working stably, Sky’s Support Telephone Number is 0870 600 5630 i checked online and broadband support should also be on 0800 0287855.

Update this number has been withdrawn i guess to many people found it over the last 6 months
This morning we are with Abacus Business Services in Leamington spa, We are here to setup a small network which allows a DOS version of Sage to print via the network to a windows XP computer using a HP Laserjet 1005 Printer.
Update: this required a piece of software called DOS2USB to make it work.
